Driving to Larnaca by passing from the outskirts of Lemesos, Choirokoitia, Sultan Tekke, and salt lake, we arrive in Larnaca a city of outstanding beauty - endowed with numerous attractions, waterfronts, and scenic vistas as well as some of the island's most outstanding beaches. We stop at St Lazarus church a late-9th century church dedicated to Lazarus of Bethany, the subject of a miracle recounted in the Gospel of John, in which Jesus raises him from the dead. In short walking distance from the church is the palm tree-lined seafront promenade known as “Phinikoudes”.
Departing from Larnaca, our tour is heading to Menoiko village to visit the Ayios Kyprianos church which dates from the 13th century, is dedicated to Agios Kyprianos and Agia Ioustini and houses the icon and relics of the saint. Our next step is at Galata village to visit Panagia Podithou Church (UNESCO World Heritage Site). The church is among the four painted churches in and around the village. The church used to be a monastery that was erected in 1502 and its paintings are of the Italo-Byzantine style.
Our next stop is the picturesque village of Kakopetria, where you have free time for lunch. Kakopetria is on the foothills of the Troodos Mountains and is recorded as one of the best mountain resorts in Cyprus mainly because of its architecture and a combination of nature and entertainment.
On our return to Paphos, we pass by the village of Ayios Nicolaos to visit the ‘Nelion Winery’ which is located in the Pretori village for wine demonstration and testing. The winery opened in 1996 it owns 2,5 hectares of the vineyard including grapes such as varieties of Bordeaux and Cinsault. The winery is producing ten different wines and 30 000 bottles annually.
