It was built in 1502 and is located in the central area of the Troodos Mountains near the village of Galata. The paintings are of the Italo-Byzantine style, which appeared on the island towards the end of the 15th century. The church is listed under the UNESCO World Heritage Site which includes nine other painted Byzantine Churches of the Troodos range.
